Your Questions About Motorcycle Insurance Quotes
Do I need uninsured motorists insurance on my motorcycle if I have it on my car policy?
I was just quoted motorcycle insurance by an agent – She claims that If I have uninsured motorists on my car policy, it will cover me even if I’m on my motorcycle and thus I don’t need the coverage on my motorcycle policy, making it VERY cheap.
Is this true? Are there any con’s to doing this? The difference in price on my motorcycle policy is $280 a year without uninsured motorists, and $950 a year with uninsured motorists.
No, it is not true. There is no way uninsured motorist on your car policy will cover the motorcycle. Each vehicle must be written with their own coverages. If these two vehicles are on different policies you need to get them on the same policy. Preferably NOT with the insurance person that gave you the bad advise regarding the uninsured motorist. Another thing, Uninsured motorist coverage is very cheap. When you put the car and motorcycle on the same policy you will get a discounted rate on both vehicles.
