How do i back up Google earth place mark?
I’ve been using Google earth for a while, and i have a lot of places marked in my Google earth. I’m planning to format my computer, how do i back up all those place mark before i format, and how do i restore?
No one knows? is there reli no way to back up google earth place mark?
First, do you log into your computer with a name and password, or do you use the “Fast User Switching” feature (Windows XP) or Vista and click on your name when you log in? Then either what you type or what is written in the box where you click is your username on this computer. If not; if the desktop appears after booting the computer with no login or password, then your username is something like “Customer” or “Default User”. You need to know this in order to find the file in which these place marks are stored.
Look in C:Documents and Settings[username]Application DataGoogleGoogleEarth for a file called “myplaces.kml”. Depending on your username and other factors, the exact path might be slightly different. Depending on your version of GoogleEarth, the exact name of the .kml file could be different. The important point is that it is in the “Application Data” folder (be careful; there is a folder called “Local Settings” that also has a sub-folder called “Application Data”, but you do NOT want that one), and the placemark file will have an extension of .kml. This is the file that you need to save.
If you really get lost, just use whatever desktop search you have (XP, the Search Companion, Desktop Search, whatever is in your Start menu) and search for anything with a .kml extension.
If there are several files there (you can create several sets of place marks), it’s best to back them all up: they’re not very large. Later, after you have re-formatted your hard drive and re-installed Windows and GoogleEarth, restore this/these file(s) to the same place; overwrite the one that is there by default.
That should do it.

even though i have the box checked for 3D buildings, nothing on my google earth is in 3D.
Not everything is 3D. Search for the effile tower and see if that’s 3D. If not, then you need to upgrade to the latest version.
Is there a google earth map where u can see people and cars moving?
I know about the new version 6 Google earth app on the phone and I have downloaded it onto my computer too.But is their anyway you can see people and cars moving on earth?
The answer is absolutely not. You would be surprised how many people initially think Google Earth will show imagery in real-time. Or, that surely it will only be a day old. The most you can get in Google Earth are near real-time imagery in the latest version. There’s the new Clouds layer. Found under the Weather layer folder. The clouds are actually taken from weather satellites and are a global picture of the clouds as recent as 3 hours old. Ok, so that’s not the kind of imagery you meant. But is all you can get, till now–they say.
Otherwise look for webcams, there are many sites listing them online, also there is a webcams layer in Google Earth, that should show you a closer to real time view of very few selected places (usually from the ground persepective)
