Your Questions About Cheap Car Insurance Pay Monthly

Daniel asks…

Should I get a cheap car first? ?

Im 16 years old & getting my license in november. I’ve been told to get a car under 5,000 dollars. However, im planning on taking a car that I would get through college. honestly I don’t think a car under 5,000 would last long. I already made a deal with my parents for me paying the down payment and half of a monthly payment for a more expensive used car ( aroumd 17,000 ) however, I just thought of an idea of me getting a $2500 2002 beetle for a first car making my insurance less expensive. Keeping that car Then, for my graduation in 2014 getting the 2011 juke that I wanted. And throughout the time having the beetle saving money. Is this a good idea? Sorry if this is long..!

Administrator answers:

Budget of $5000 is great for a first car because you really don’t need to factor in depreciation costs because it will always be worth what you paid for it as long as you put back what you take through servicing & replacing perodic serviceable items like brake pads, tyres etc.

I find putting about $30 per week away in a separate bank account for car servicing and repairs will give you safe and happy motoring and pay for the unexpected.
Being a mechanic for 20 years its safe to say all manufacturers still don’t get it right.
Hope this helps Maya & safe motoring.

Should I get a cheap car first?

Im 16 years old & getting my license in november. I’ve been told to get a car under 2,000 dollars. Yes, that’s a really good idea! I think it’s better to start off with a cheaper car…. Just until you get the hang of driving, you never know what could happen and you don’t want to spend a lot on a good car, yet!

Chris asks…

Should I buy this????? HELP!!!?

So I have about $760 saved up right now. I want to buy a $500 dslr camera. My sister in law says thats stupid I’m not a professional photographer so I am an idiot if I buy one. I love taking pictures and I’ve had many point and shoot cameras, and I earned my money so I think I have a right to be able to spend it.

I have monthly car insurance which I pay for on my own, plus a phone bill, gas and food. I’m 19, in college and living with my dad. She thinks I’m sooooo irresponsible for wanting to spend any of my money. I work already and I’m about to get a second job. Part of me feels like I earned it, but she made me feel like crap because she thinks I’m a loser and I’m just so immature for wanting an expensive camera. What do you think? I planned on trying to take pictures of people with it, on the side for some extra money. Also, I want to be a wedding planner one day, so I thought getting a nice camera and taking wedding pictures at a cheap price would be a good investment, so I could run elbows with people in the actual field of work I want to be in. What do you think? Is this a bad idea? Is this a completely stupid question I’m even asking?

Administrator answers:

You’ve earned the money – it’s your choice if you spend it. If you think a DSLR will help enrich your life (either just for you or as something you can earn with later) then go for it.

$500 is not a huge investment when it comes to cameras, but it may be a huge investment to you – if it is, make sure you’re going to use it – don’t just buy on a whim! If you get something out of it, then it’s worth it. If it sits gathering dust, then it’s not.
